This
project involves the use of remote sensing, ground data collection, and
ecological modelling to document and interpret changes in land use and
land cover in miombo ecosystems. The study is aimed at understanding both
the causes and the consequences of these changes, particularly their
contribution to global environmental change and how the anticipated
broader-scale changes in climate in turn might affect ecological
functioning and socio-economic conditions in southern central Africa.
