Instructional Material for a Course in Agroforestry:  Browse in Agroforestry
By F Nherera
Price:  [Z$110]

This course focuses on the principles and technologies of sustainable and efficient agroforestry with respect to livestock production in tropical and sub-tropical
countries of Southern Africa.  The potential of indeginous and exotic tree and
shrub species as important nutritional sources for ruminant livestock is discussed.
It is recognized that tropical tree foliage is palatable, digestible and highly
nutritious and has a high feeding value for livestock.  Laboratory and field
components have been considered to illustrate aspects of agroforestry such as
technologies in tree plant propagation and management, morphological and
physiological characteristics of multipurpose trees, animal responses to tree fodder supplementation and plant responses to browsing.  Software on Multipurpose tree
databases and videocassettes will be utilized to enhance the effectiveness of this
course.
